UKiset Preparation
The UK Independent Schools’ Entry Test (UKiset) is designed for non-native English-speaking students applying to British independent schools. It assesses both academic potential and English language ability, comparing candidates against UK pupils of the same age.

What is UKiset?
UKiset is an adaptive, computer-based assessment widely used by UK independent schools for overseas applicants. It does not test prior curriculum knowledge, but instead evaluates reasoning skills, aptitude and English proficiency.
There is no pass or fail. Instead, results provide schools with a comparative profile of a candidate’s academic and linguistic readiness.

UKiset test components
Verbal Reasoning (Language questions and problem solving with words)
Non-Verbal Reasoning (Solving problems using shapes, pictures and logic)
Mathematics (Looking at number, value, quantity and sequence concepts)
Spatial Reasoning (Ability to think about objects in both two and three dimensions, and draw conclusions to those objects from limited information)
English (Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, listening and creative writing)
In addition to the online assessment, candidates complete a handwritten creative writing task on the test day. This essay is not graded but is shared with selected schools alongside the test report.

English assessment and CEFR
UKiset uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to describe English proficiency, ranging from Pre-A1 to C2. Each candidate receives a detailed English profile, which schools use to assess language readiness and support needs.
